The Mekong-Lanman meeting, a meeting involving the Mekong countries and China, is being held in Bagan. There was criticism because the foreign minister of the military council was present at that meeting. ASEAN has stipulated that the Military Council will not be allowed to attend any meeting, but since the Minister of the Military Council has been allowed to attend the meeting, ASEAN’s position is actually free. The Chinese Foreign Minister and ASEAN representative are in Bagan to attend the meeting. ASEAN and China are trying to fill the military council with various excuses. When Min Aung Hlaing met with them, he still shamelessly said, “There is nothing more important than human life” about the killing of thousands of innocent people in the country.
