After the ban on riding motorcycles in Thanyin last month, now the southern townships of Yangon such as Twan Tay, Kaw Hmu, Kun Chan Kone townships have been closed. It was banned because military council posts in those areas were being attacked by motorcycles. Local residents who rely mainly on motorcycles for transportation are suffering. Now, in those townships, people have to travel on their own bicycles. Under the military dictatorship, everything is set back twenty years. In Yangon’s Hlaing Thayar and Shwe Pyi Thar townships, soldiers are arresting every motorcycle on the road every day.
