Fighting has been going on for about a week in Phekone on the Shan-Kayah border. Villages east of Moebyein were also set on fire by the military. In Kayah, the army launched a major offensive in mid-February, forcing some areas to be liberated. Defense forces are trying to reopen the Shan-Kayah border because the military has blocked food supply routes for refugees.
