Today marks the one-year anniversary of the nationwide general strike in which most people took to the streets. The good news today is that the EU has sanctioned the military council’s oil and gas industry. It is the highest-sanctioned decision on the military council’s main source of income since the departure of Total and Chevron. But so far only the EU has taken action and the United States still needs to get involved. It is expected to take action sooner or later.
That is not enough, and more important sanctions are needed. The closest thing is to blockade the aircraft so that the military council’s overriding air strikes can be prevented.
