The UN Selection Committee continued to elect Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, not the nominee nominated by the military council. It is not clear whether this is a recognition of NUG. Diplomats have commented on the postponement of government representation until next year’s conference. The UN is neutral on who will recognize the military council and the NUG, with the current incumbent remaining in office. It shows the current state of the world from the day we see the Dhamma and Aa Dhamma clearly and neutrally.
However, the result gave the NUG an advantage over the diplomatic front, and the military council was completely overthrown. Discussions will continue at the General Assembly, but it is unlikely that China and Russia will agree on a mutually agreed outcome. The military council, which has said it will move forward with a few allies, is becoming increasingly isolated.
