China’s unilateral closure of border trade points has had a major impact. The immediate impact will be felt in the EAO areas in the north of the country, which are mainly fighting against the military council. The Kachin and northern Shan states have long relied on Chinese imports. This closure will also have an impact on the livelihoods of the local people. Then the next step will be the people living in the areas under military council control. Myanmar relies mainly on imports from Thailand and China. Now China has completely closed it. Thai imports are also not flowing smoothly due to frequent fighting on the Myawaddy route. This will lead to a rise in prices for basic consumer goods and even to a collapse of the economy. Prices of goods will continue to rise. We will start to feel this impact in the coming months.
