The NUG-affiliated PDF forces announced that they will continue to defend Moe Kot, which the TLNA agreed to return to the military commission. The town was jointly occupied by the TLNA and PDF forces. The TNLA then took over the city administration. During the TNLA’s rule, rubies were mined in Moe Kot, which was used to build golf courses. Now that the TLNA is withdrawing, the PDF forces will continue to control the town. At present, there is no indication that the military commission will launch a full-scale attack on Moe Kot.
The situation of Moe Kot in northern Shan State, which the TLNA handed over to the military commission, is not yet clear. The town also borders KIA-controlled territory. It is not yet known whether the military commission forces will enter or KIA forces will take over when the TLNA withdraws.
