Today marks the second anniversary of Operation 1027, when the two ethnic armed groups, the MNDAA and TLNA, launched a major offensive against the military in northern Shan State. They vowed to fight until the army was wiped out. However, just two years after the end of Operation 1027, the TLNA and the military council have agreed to a ceasefire after another meeting in China. The TLNA has handed over Moe Kot and Moe Meik towns, which were occupied by the TLNA, to the military commission and agreed to a ceasefire. This was not surprising, as it was predicted that this would happen. In the end, the two groups had to give up everything they had worked for under pressure from China and the military commission’s heavy airstrikes. The blood and sweat of the comrades in the achievements made are truly remarkable.
