The military council has opposed East Timor’s entry into ASEAN. East Timor is objecting to this because it supports the NUG. East Timor has rejected this objection. It is funny that the military council, which has no place in ASEAN, is objecting to this. I don’t think ASEAN will accept it either. If East Timor becomes a member of ASEAN, it will be of some help in the discussions on the Myanmar issue.
