Due to the conscription law enacted by Military Council, workers in the industrial zones in Yangon Region are returning. We are experiencing massive layoffs and labor shortages are affecting the entire economy.
On February 10th, since the Military Council announced the People’s Military Service Law, workers from the area have been returning to their respective homelands. Hearing the news that it was like being called to war, people disappeared. There, the workers also returned to their hometowns. On the 13th of March, the letters for the military service summons and the raffle came in. The parents of the village called their children back. There are almost no workers in the factories. The workers in the dormitory ran away. The impact has hit industrial zones very hard. There are very few workers. There is already a situation where only women are left.
Businesses and factories faced labor shortages and shortages due to conscription laws, as well as those on the guest list at the bottom. Dormitory workers were bullied by ward administration groups. extortions, I’m facing a series of arrests. Not long after the conscription law was passed, the situation has already worsened.
